Metallography

Welds crack, steel beams break, tubes overheat. Production stoppages cost money and breakdowns can lead to injuries. No properties and possible weaknesses are overlooked by our metallurgists, who also have extensive experience of systematic breakdown and damage examinations. You will not only receive answers but also concrete suggestions for measures.

We have many years of experience in investigations of damage to structures in metallic materials. Our staff has worked with assignments from, among others, insurance companies and the process industry.

Services we perform:

Our know-how and our equipment give us the opportunity to provide complete solutions and services in the field of metallography. All macro and micro images, as well as images from the scanning electron microscope (SEM) are stored in associated databases. The images included in the assignment to the customer are saved, which means that we can go back and perform supplementary examinations and measurements.

Metallografi

We know metals

The term metallography briefly means the study of the structure and appearance of metals and alloys under a microscope. The purpose of the metallographic examination is to draw conclusions about the properties of the examined material.

Do you need knowledge of material science and how to interpret a material certificate?

The starting point for our two-day training on metallic materials is to give you a basic knowledge of materials science and how to interpret certificates. In addition to theory, the educations also contain practical steps in our laboratory.
Mattias Thuvander

Mattias Thuvander

Material Science (basic) is held by Mattias Thuvander, Associate Professor of Microstructure Physics, works at the Department of Physics at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg.

Interpretation of Material Certificates is held by Torbjörn Ygesjö, Marine Surveyor at Bureau Veritas, Marine & Offshore.

The courses are independent, which means that you can sign up for only one of the days. If you choose to participate in both, you will receive a SEK 1,000 discount.
