Ferrite content measurements / phase analysis

A control of the ferrite content and/or other constituent phases can help to avoid corrosion in stainless steel welds, pipes, sheet metal, pressure vessels and petrochemical components.

Part of our ferrite content measurement takes place during procedural testing of ferrite-austenitic (duplex) materials, where requirements according to, for example SS-EN 13445 are prescribed. Ferrite content measurement is also performed on austenitic stainless steel welds, among other things.

The laboratory performs ferrite content measurements (phase analyzes) in light-optical microscopes with associated phase analysis software. The measurement is performed by automatic image analysis or for ferrite content measurement by manual point counting.
