Asbestos is the most common form of occupational cancer in the EU. It is estimated that 30,000 to 90,000 deaths a year in Europe.
Millions of buildings are expected to be renovated in the EU to be more energy efficient, which means that many professions will be exposed to asbestos-containing material.
If we do not get stricter rules in place, we will have high death rates for decades to come.
