The best period to measure radon is between October 1 and April 30, the so-called heating season. The small house owners who have over 200 Bq/m3 in the indoor air can apply for radon subsidies to decontaminate.
It is possible to make both short-term and long-term measurements.
– Short-term measurement means 7 days and gives an advisory result.
– Long-term measurement lasts for 2-3 months to obtain an annual average value.
In order to be able to apply for a grant, an examination of the radon content in the indoor air must be made. The remediation grant is 50 percent of the cost, a maximum of SEK 25,000. The application is made through an e-service at the County Administrative Board or boverket.se.
