Replica testing

The replica method consists of making a copy of a ground, polished and etched area of interest. The replica is then brought to the laboratory for a metallographic examination, where it is evaluated with the help of an optic microscope.

Our laboratory offers the possibility for replica testing as well as evaluations of made replicas, principally considering structure and creep deformations. This line of operation is foremost aimed towards the process industry, where unplanned production stops are costly. Using this replica method the repair/service intervals and lifetime for the original can be determined.

Our laboratory has developed a method where you directly examine and document on a prepared surface, without having to make a copy (replica), using a field microscope with a connected digital camera. This documentation can then be sent electronically to the laboratory for evaluation.
