The importance of making an environmental inventory

There are environmental and health hazardous substances and materials in our buildings. Before starting to demolish and renovate it is important to carry out an environmental inventory.

There must be a demolition plan and also an environmental inventory has to be done. An environmental inventory means that one survey what materials and components containing hazardous substances and where they are in the property.

For the inventory to be adequate it requires that the surveyors has a lot of knowledge and experience.

Hazardous substances include, among other things, asbestos, PCBs, mercury, refrigerants (CFCs, e.g.), oil, PAHs, creosote (in pressure-heated wood), arsenic, lead and cadmium.
